Job Description
Job Objective :
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Agro-Meteorologist to join the dynamic team of the organization. The
Agro-Meteorologist will play a crucial role in providing valuable
meteorological insights to optimize agricultural practices, mitigate risks, and
productivity estimation based modern tools like satellite remote sensing, drone
etc. As an Agro-Meteorologist, you will work closely with our GIS and ML team
to interpret weather data, understand different natural disasters to analyze
its impact on crop loss.
Essential Qualification
Education:
BE / B. Tech (Any)
OR
Any Graduate with Master’s Degree in Geoinformatics / MCA /
Meteorology/Environmental Science or equivalent subjects.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years proven experience in agro-meteorology or a
similar role within the agriculture sector.
- Proven work experience in Geoinformatics.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of meteorological data analysis, climate
modelling, and weatherforecasting techniques.
- Proficiency in using meteorological software and tools.
- Experience with GIS and remote sensing technologies is a
plus.
- General understanding of agricultural practices whereas
specific to Madhya Pradesh will be an additional advantage
Core Responsibilities:
- Weather Data Analysis: Monitor, collect, and analyze
meteorological data, including temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind patterns, cloud
cover etc.
- Crop Forecasting: Utilize meteorological data to develop
crop-specific weather forecasts, assess potential risks to crops, and provide early warning systems
for adverse weather events.
- Weather-Driven Decision Support: Collaborate with
agricultural experts to develop weather based decision support systems for farmers, including crop
planting and harvesting advisories.
- Data Integration: Integrate field and satellite based
meteorological and other agricultural data sources (e.g., soil quality, pest data) using GIS.
- Technology Utilization: Familiarity with recent
technological tools (GIS, AI-ML, GEE), Utilize meteorological and remote sensing technology, such as
weather stations and satellite imagery, to enhance data collection and analysis.
